Drawn: Transeasonal Pencil Skirt

Finally I have updated my blog! Yeah, I know it’s been a while since my new years’ resolution update but time has just flown past – scary to think that we are nearing Easter already…

I promised I would post work of my digital painting so here is my latest piece, and an ode to transeasonal dressing with this bright and beautiful SS13 pencil skirt by Jonathan Saunders.

On the left is how I would style this for our current climate, tights and a long woollen waistcoat. On the right is how I would style this for warmer weather, kitten heels and a crisp  short-sleeve shirt.

I had a lot of fun (and a bit of a headache) producing this – I’m a traditionalist at heart so digital painting is a new and exciting venture for me. I didn’t want to create something that looked artificial – an effect that is so easy to end up producing in digital (cringe), but I wanted to use digital to its advantage – in promoting graphic details and shape, something you can’t do with watercolours and ink.

The close-up above just goes to show how manic I find it to neaten this stuff up, but, it was fun and I’ll admit it needs more work but for now, I’m happy with it.

I hope you like it! x
